JULIE WULFKUHLE, MSW, LCSW, CP
Executive Director/CEO

 

Julie Clark is a licensed clinical social worker with Elysian Counseling and Trauma Care. Julie works with children, adults and families who have experienced adverse trauma and the lasting effects it can create throughout the lifespan. Julie specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Therapy (SMART), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is a trainer for Attachment Regulation and Competency (ARC). These modalities provide theoretical framework to assist in the intervention of multiple or prolonged traumatic stress.
Julie graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a masters in Social Work in 2012. Then in the spring of 2014 she graduated with a second master’s degree in Health Care Leadership from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Julie currently teaches advanced practicum for Walla Walla University in the Billings satellite campus.
Born and raised in Billings, MT, Julie enjoys spending time with her two young boys and getting as much family time as possible. She has traveled to seventeen different countries and loves to travel learning about new cultures as well as reliving history. Julie has lived in Heredia Costa Rica and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where she taught English to young children. Lastly Julie has a passion for all animals. She combines animal assisted therapy into practice and has worked with dogs, horses and even dolphins.

MELISSA ALVAREZ THORSON, MS, LCPC, LAC, NCC
Clinical Director

 

Melissa Alvarez Thorson is a National Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors, and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor in the state of Montana.  Melissa has over five years of experience in trauma-informed counseling working with addiction, grief, trauma, depression, anxiety and other disorders. She uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatment in conjunction with person-centered, strength-based therapeutic modalities and works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. When not working, Melissa enjoys traveling the world, vegetarian cooking and spending time with her family.

David Cote, MSW, LCSW
Clinical Supervisor

David T. Cote is the Clinical Supervisor and treats individuals, couples, families, and facilitates group therapy. Mr. Cote has practiced for 40 years as a licensed social worker in mental health across 4 states.  He has taught as adjunct faculty at Nebraska Wesleyan and trained at the Family Institute of Kansas City, MO. Mr. Cote uses a collaborative approach, building off the strengths of the client to address the presenting problem. He employs Solution Focused and Brief Therapy Approaches to therapy. Mr. Cote's style is a relaxed method, utilizing a sense of humor and treating each client with dignity and respect.

JASMINE OLMSTEAD, MSW, LSWC
Office Manager/Mental health therapist

 

Jasmine Olmstead is Social Worker who graduated from Walla Walla University with her master's degree in Social Work with a focus on trauma. Jasmine graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree focused on childhood development and trauma. She is trained in CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, ARC, play therapy, and art therapy. Her main focus is kids through early adulthood who have experienced acute or chronic PTSD. Personal interests of hers include spending time with her family, hiking, sewing, baking, and enjoying time with friends over good food.

RHIANNA CURTISS, MSW, LSWC

Rhianna is a therapist with Elysian Mental Health Foundation. Rhianna utilizes Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral therapies; though, she does have experience in Emotional Focused (not certified), Grief, and group therapies. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Carroll College and her Master’s in Social Work from Walla Walla. Rhianna worked with kids five and up but is passionate about working with the older population. Rhianna enjoys reading, painting, and spending time with her family, friends, and her dog Joe and tortoise Bamm Bamm.

SAVANNAH SINQUAH, MSW, LSWC
Program Therapist

 

Savannah Sinquah, MSW, SWLC, works with all youth and specializes in working with Native American youth. Prior to coming to EMHF, she worked as a Program Therapist for the Yellowstone Girls and Boys Ranch at Medicine Crow Middle School for two years. Savannah graduated from Walla Walla University with a Master in Social Work and earned a Business Administration Degree from the University of Montana. Savannah worked in Public Health for seven years with the Yellowstone County Health Department where she served on the Mental Health Expansion Committee during the pandemic. The Committee was successful in bringing more services to Billings and its surrounding areas. In addition, Savannah is a Trauma Informed Care Trainer helping with the education of incoming providers to the Billings Service Area and working with Indian Health Service providers. Savannah has suicide prevention training from QPR. She also has the Fatherhood and Motherhood is Sacred Training from the Native American Families Association. Savannah co-chaired the Apsáalooke Community Health Needs Assessment on the Crow Indian Reservation which was the first Crow led assessment in order to bring more services and resources to the reservation.

Brandee De La Cruz, MS, PCLC
Mental Health Therapist


Brandee graduated from Montana State University Billings and completed her internship with Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.  Brandee’s focus is on adolescences and adults.  She uses Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as other modalities in her work.  Brandee works with individuals who struggle with suicidal ideation, self harm, anger management, trauma and she specializes in PTSD, anxiety and depression.  Brandee loves to spend time hanging out with her kids, walking, going on drives and exploring the area.  She loves to travel, meet new people and see new places.  Her favorite destinations are  the coasts of Washington and Oregon, and she considers them her happy places.

Trish Lauwers, MSW, LSWC
Youth Counselor
​

Trish graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Master’s in Social Work. While attending school she completed her internships with Rimrock Foundation and Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch. During her internship with YBGR she was a behavioral specialist that transitioned to a therapist once she graduated. Prior to joining EMHF, Trish provided therapy to youth at Highland, Lewis & Clark and Riverside middle schools in Billings. Trish has training in SMART, CBT, SFBT, Motivational Interviewing, and many other therapeutic modalities. She specializes in working with children who have experienced trauma and can treat PTSD, complex trauma and other issues. Trish loves getting to help kids work through their trauma and get their ”ah-ha” moment when they figure out how to cope with their trauma and emotions. In her spare time, she loves camping, hiking, fishing, cross-stitching, and diamond painting. Trish has taken part in the Out of the Darkness Walk for the last 10 years. She is also a member of the Magic City Witch Dancers, a theatrical performing group that goes around the community dancing and entertaining during the fall months. Her newest hobby is paddle boarding which she learned to do from the witch group. Trish joined the group to step out of her comfort zone as she felt that she could not ask her clients to step out of theirs if she was not willing to step out of her own.

Andrea Dosen, MA, LCPC
Telehealth Specialist

 

Andrea (she/her/hers) graduated from the Chicago School of Professional
Psychology with a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology and a specialty in
Child Protection. She has 9 years of experience in a variety of mental health
settings across three states. Andrea has a passion to work with diverse
populations and multiple family make ups. She specializes in treatment of
complex trauma, abuse/neglect, shock/medical trauma, family/relationship
stressors, mood disorders, and birth trauma. Andrea creates a space where
clients can understand the impact of trauma, stress, and emotional
dysregulation on their whole being. She utilizes mind and body approaches
through somatic experiencing, play, integrative mental health modalities, and
regulation work. Andrea’s authentic personality allows clients to relax and
work towards identified goals with confidence.
Andrea enjoys the outdoors and travel adventures with her dog, Ellie. She has
never said no to a craft project and enjoys trying local food places.
